first blog
There's a commercial for Sonic that pretty much sums up my feelings on blogs. In it, a man is enjoying a burger or something and he says "This burger's really good, I think I'll write about that in my blog" to the person sitting next to him. Usually I don't think those Sonic commercials are that clever but I enjoyed that one because the whole concept of a blog is based on the assumption that other people will actually want to take time out of their day to read what you have to say. Having said that, I decided to start this blog because as a Television Personality, I am in the business of speaking. In order to become a better speaker they say there's two things you should do on a regular basis, the first is obviously to speak frequently, and the second, which isn't so obvious, is to write frequently. Since I speak to the public, I figured I should write to the public as well, as opposed to writing a private journal. Of course, that is based on the assumption that someone will actually take time out of their day to read what I have to say.

Hi Christina! I read this post after wandering around the 'net, and I'm looking at it from a writer's perspective, where as you obviously wrote it from a speaker's perspective. Public speaking was something that I have been at best, nervous about. I've never heard the statement about being a better speaker, but it makes sense on many levels. I realize this post is pretty old, wonder if you're trying your hand at writing somewhere else, and hope that whatever it is you're doing, it's working out.
